Additionally, Kathy was chosen, through the National Endowment for the Humanities, to participate in a Summer Seminars and Institutes for School Teachers program last summer. The program , Shakespeare: Enacting the Text, consisted of a five-week seminar hosted through the University of Delaware and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon. The focus was on learning how to bring Shakespeare's works to life for students. Participants completed intensive study and research in Delaware, traveled to the Folger Shakespeare Library, toured the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and then traveled to Stratford-upon-Avon to study and visit major Shakespearian sites. They attended eight different plays, some of which were playing at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London and at the Courtyard and the Swan in Stratford. The experience also included post-performance Q & A sessions with the actors. Kathy's written project was an Introduction to Shakespeare curriculum unit which she plans to use at CHS.

Kathy expressed that the Summer Seminars and Institutes for School Teachers program has a number of interesting opportunities for teachers during the summer. For more information visit.
