Associate Superintendent, Dr. Marilyn Cook, Announces Retirement
Marilyn Cook, Associate Superintendent for Educational Services, has formally announced her intention to retire at the end of the 2007-08 school year. In her letter to Superintendent Skelly
Dr. Cook shared how much she has loved working for PAUSD and being a part of a school district that does great things for kids. She also wrote about the real privilege she has had in being able to work with an amazing group of education professionals and to team with such a dedicated and talented community.
Dr. Cook has been an integral part of the District's Administrative Team for fourteen years. In 1994, she joined PAUSD as principal at Palo Alto High School. Six years later she moved to the District Office as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, and has served as Associate Superintendent since 2005.
Superintendent Skelly, upon receiving notice of her retirement, noted that the District is losing a very talented administrator--one with an excellent grasp of our schools and our community. He acknowledged Dr. Cook's many contributions to the District and offered his hope that all of her new endeavors in retirement prove to be as rewarding and enjoyable as her career as an educator and administrator.
The search for a highly qualified replacement for Dr. Cook will be a major focus for Superintendent Skelly and for Certificated Human Resources.
