Jordan Middle School Principal Appointed
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kevin Skelly will be recommending to the Board at its April 8, 2008 meeting, Dr. Michael Milliken, as Principal of Jordan Middle School, effective July 1, 2008.
The Jordan Principal Selection Input Committee felt that Dr. Milliken was very well qualified to lead Jordan Middle School. They highly valued his thoughtfulness, his passion for education, and his focus on student success. Dr. Milliken devoted much of his graduate study to secondary education issues and has served as an elementary school principal. His broad K-12 experience will help deepen our institutional capacity around the important transition and education issues associated with middle school.
Dr. Milliken brings a wealth of experience with him. He began his career in education teaching elementary school in San Diego, CA. He then taught fifth grade and seventh grade mathematics in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Milliken returned to California after four years teaching on the East Coast to complete his graduate studies at Stanford University. For the past three years, Dr. Milliken has been principal at Graham Elementary School in the Newark Unified School District.
Dr. Milliken earned a Bachelor of Arts--Political Science from Stanford University. He earned his Masters degree and Doctorate of Education--Education Administration from Stanford University.
Dr. Milliken lives with his family in Los Altos.
