Assistant Superintendent Announced

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kevin Skelly, Superintendent, will recommend the appointment of Virginia (Ginni) A. Davis to the Board of Education at its May 13 regular meeting. Davis will serve as the Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, a position being vacated by Dr. Marilyn Cook, who will be retiring this summer.

As an alumna of Gunn High School, Terman Middle School and Barron Park Elementary, Davis is excited to be returning to Palo Alto where her mother still resides. Mrs. Davis has been the Associate Superintendent at Davis Joint Unified School District for nearly three years. Prior to that Davis was the Assistant Superintendent in Dixon Unified School District. Her professional experiences include social studies teacher and department chair, vice principal, and principal in both the elementary and middle school settings. Davis's district experience includes special projects, curriculum and instruction, and educational services.

Dr. Skelly said that "Mrs. Davis' experiences in district leadership and educational services will serve our district well and her work in Davis should hold her in good stead as she moves to Palo Alto. We are extremely pleased that we could attract and hire Mrs. Davis for this important position in our district. Dr. Cook's departure means that we are losing a great deal of expertise, so filling this position appropriately is extremely important."

Davis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history at the University of California, Davis, and her Masters in Education at Stanford University. She currently resides in Davis, California. She and her husband have three grown children.
