New Principal Named for Juana Briones Elementary School
Dr. Kevin Skelly, superintendent, recommended the appointment of Mrs. Lisa Hickey as principal of Juana Briones Elementary School, beginning July 2012. Mrs. Hickey who was presented to the Board at its June 26, 2012 regular meeting, replaces Mr. Matt Nagle.
Mrs. Hickey has served as an elementary school principal in Cupertino Union School District since 2005. Most recently, she was principal at Meyerholz School, directing both a neighborhood population and a Mandarin immersion program. She also served as the principal of Sedgwick School. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal and middle school teacher in Cupertino. She has extensive experience working with special education students, as well as preschool populations.
Mrs. Hickey holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California at Los Angeles and two Master’s degrees (Interdisciplinary Education and Educational Administration) from Santa Clara University.
Dr. Skelly commented, "We are delighted to have an administrator with Mrs. Hickey's skills and experience join our district as the principal of Juana Briones Elementary."
